Course Settings

Manage how courses look and are assigned to your team

Updated over a week ago

A Venue or Org Admin may create courses & tests and assign them to any venue where they have admin privileges.

Course settings control how a course looks, what employees and locations are automatically enrolled, and how long they have to complete it. You can also assign value to courses for payroll or rewards systems

Navigate to Content Manager/Internal training, then click New Course or the edit icon on the course you want to manage

A typical course looks like this

Course Image

Add a 1:1 image that will be used to identify the course in your library.

Course Name

Use a name that helps employees identify the expected learning

Colour

Select a complementary colour that will be used when showing the course in your library.

Days to Complete

Choose the number of days from enrollment staff must complete the course. More urgent courses would have a few days, and less urgent, or courses with lots of learning may be allocated longer.

This is an important feature to stagger the workload and avoid staff rushing to finish courses or being overloaded in their first few weeks. Enrolments are applied when a new employee is added to OR a new course is added.

Description

Explain the course content, anticipated learning and how long the course typically takes to complete. This helps employees understand the course when browsing their learning

Keywords

Add any keywords not included in the course title that will be utilised when using the content search function.

Course Group

Group courses into categories that help you with assigning and reporting. For example; Company Induction, FoH Service, Compliance

Digital Certificate

You can add a digital certificate your team can download upon passing. Download a template here

Remuneration

Assign courses a value to reward and remunerate employees. Any combination of dollars, hours, minutes, and points can be added. This can be exported to external payroll or rewards applications.

Assigning courses to employees

ANANAS enrols employees using a set-and-forget system designed to automate onboarding and upskilling employees. The following settings allow you to target content to employees based on where they work and the type of job they perform.

Apply to Job Role

Select specific (or all) job roles this course will be assigned to automatically. Once published, all current employees with matching roles and any new will be enrolled in the course

Apply to Locations

Select locations this course will be assigned to.

Employment Type

Select if the course will be assigned to all or specifically Full-time, casual or Part-time employees

Make Course Recommendable

By default, the courses you create are only visible to employees you enrol using the above settings; this prevents employees from viewing content that may not be suitable for their role. In some cases, you may want to allow employees to view recommended content and opt to enrol themselves.

This feature allows you, for example, to make a course required for Bartenders but recommended for Waiters.

Bartenders will be enrolled, and their compliance will be reported on in the application. Waiters would not receive notifications and reminders that the course is required but would have the option to enrol if they choose

Course Expiry

Allows you to set the number of days a course remains valid after a user completes the course. This can be used where you require your team to retain currency on any material by re-testing the course, say every six months. This defaults to 0 / No expiry.
